How to save on electricity – balcony power plants are just what you need, according to one German city. The cost of energy is skyrocketing, and those who want to mitigate some of the enormous electricity bills can do so with a balcony power plant.
The Weiden City Council will soon decide on subsidizing private plug-in solar power systems. According to the city council’s draft resolution, up to 100 euros will be paid for purchasing new systems.
Investment in solar energy Plug-in solar systems, also called balcony power plants, are solar panels about 1.8 meters long and 1 meter wide. Such panels are usually installed on the balcony railing or on the roof.
The electricity is then fed into the power circuit of the house or apartment via a socket. In this way, residents will have the opportunity to invest in solar energy at a low threshold cost of 350 to 1000 euros. It is worth noting that Weiden City Council is also the initiator of the proposal.
Installing one or two solar panels that generate energy around 200–600 kWh per year is not enough. Because they are too weak to be connected to the mains. It is worth noting that with an electricity price of 30 cents per kilowatt-hour, according to the Weiden administration, the system would have paid for itself in ten years at the latest.
According to the consumer center in Bavaria, these installations do not require a permit. Registering with the electricity supplier and the Federal Grid Agency is enough to begin the program.
A four-month campaign to attract private investment in renewable energy is also on the agenda, which will probably happen at the end of 2023. Until now, there is no single federal program to subsidize such factories for the manufacture of solar panels in Bavaria.
