In the United States, Tesla Inc recalled nearly 30,000 Model X vehicles. This time there is a problem that could cause the front passenger airbag to deploy incorrectly.
According to a filing with US regulators, the airbag could deploy incorrectly in certain low-speed collision events where a young front seat passenger is unbelted and out of position, increasing the risk of injury.
Now, it’s an airbag
Tesla stated that it was unaware of any crashes, injuries, or deaths caused by the recall.
The issue will be resolved via an over-the-air software update. That was the explanation stated in a letter filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Tesla recalled the same models for losing power steering assist
The world’s most valuable automaker, Tesla, recalled over 40,000 Model S and Model X vehicles earlier this month. The reason was the risk of losing power steering assist when driving on rough roads or after hitting a pothole.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a loss of power steering assist can necessitate more steering effort. That is especially at low speeds, which increases the risk of a crash.
Tesla stated that it had identified 314 vehicle alerts for this condition among US vehicles that may be related to the recall, but – again – that it is not aware of any injuries or deaths as a result of this condition.
According to the famous automaker, as of November 1, more than 97% of the recalled vehicles had received an update. The updates addressed the recall issue.
Tesla issued a total of 17 recall campaigns this year
Separately, Tesla has recalled 53 2021 Model S exterior side rearview mirrors built for the European market. The reason: they do not meet “Rear Visibility” requirements in the United States. The mirrors in question were installed during service visits to the United States.
In 2022, Tesla issued a total of 17 recall campaigns affecting 3.4 million vehicles.
