Brazil is interested in establishing cooperation with Europe on developing hydrogen energy and supplying the region with energy carriers in the face of the rejection of Russian natural gas.
The notion was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Economy of the country, Paulo Guedes. “Who will produce green hydrogen for Europe, which cannot depend on Russian natural gas? We can do it,” he said, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
According to the minister, the government of his country is negotiating the development of green energy with companies from Germany, Denmark and Spain, which want to take 15% of the Brazilian energy market through wind and solar generation.
“All these people who produce energy from wind and solar, they come to Brazil,” Guedes said, recalling that 80% of the electricity in the country is already produced using clean sources.
Given the climate, “Brazil is bound to become a clean energy giant in the future,” the economy minister said, arguing that the cost of producing such hydrogen energy would be low.
