Installed renewable energy capacity in China reached 1.1 billion kWh by the end of May, up 15.1% year on year, data from the country’s National Energy Administration showed, Xinhua reported.
From January to May, China’s newly installed renewable capacity was 43.49 million kWh, accounting for 82.1% of the total newly installed electricity generation capacity.
During this period, 1.06 trillion kWh of electricity was generated from renewable sources, which is 16.8% more than last year, which is about 31.5% of the country’s energy consumption.
In recent years, China has made significant strides in renewable production to improve its energy mix.
The country has committed to reducing carbon emissions as much as possible by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
