Czech politicians are full of optimism despite the possible cessation of Russian gas supplies, calling for the development of their own electricity generation and energy source, Czech media reported.
According to the Minister of Labor of the Czech Republic Marian Yurechka, diversification of supplies, savings, and development of renewable energy sources, as well as the use of biomethane contribute to reducing dependence on Russia.
“If we add up the potential of biomethane produced in the Czech Republic, the reconstruction of buildings and renewable energy sources, we can compensate for about half of all gas consumption. For now, we import most of it from Russia. This must end!” Yurechka wrote on Twitter.
The natural source of biomethane is manure, and in addition to organic fertilizers, the remains of food and some crops are suitable for the production of biomethane.
European countries are looking for ab alternative energy source in connection with the possible rejection of Russian energy sources. Moscow announced the transition from April 1 to ruble settlements with unfriendly countries – gas buyers.
Earlier, local media reported that Poland and the Czech Republic are working on a plan of action in the event of a cessation of oil supplies.
