Wood pellet manufacturer and global supplier Enviva Biomass has announced plans to open a new wood pellet and biomass plant in Bond, which will be the company’s fourth facility in Mississippi.
About 100 new jobs will be created at the enterprise, and the volume of investments aimed at implementing the project will amount to $250 million.
“Enviva Biomass has worked closely with state and local authorities to deliver new investment, positive economic impact and strong support for local communities,” CEO John Keppler said in a statement.
“Our new Bond plant is an integral part of Enviva’s growth strategy, which includes doubling production capacity over the next five years,” he added.
The Bond plant is expected to open in 2024. Construction is scheduled to start in 2023.
Enviva also said it would be sourcing low-value timber from local businesses. In addition, the new plant will have “industry-leading emissions controls” and noise reduction measures.
