With the launch of a new generation power forecasting system incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology, renewable energy generation in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is now equipped with a “weather forecasting” function, Chinese media reported.
By integrating artificial intelligence and other technologies into the new energy capacity prediction system, a more advanced prediction model can be created to improve the accuracy of capacity prediction according to differences in Xinjiang’s terrain, wind and solar resources, and power generation characteristics, Xinjiang State Power Company said in a statement.
With advanced technology, Xinjiang’s ultra-short-term, short-term, and medium-term wind energy stocks forecasting accuracy rates can reach 96%, 92%, and 81% respectively, exceeding the national standard.
The company’s data showed that forecasting the generation of photovoltaic energy in each period can reach about 98%.
Six hundred eighteen new power plants in Xinjiang are now connected to the new generation power prediction system.
Using artificial intelligence and other technologies, the upgraded system is powerful enough.
According to the State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co, it can provide accurate data support for grid development planning and various power generation plans, scientifically optimize the maintenance plan of power transmission and conversion equipment and conventional power supplies and expand transactions in the electricity market.
