Vattenfall, a Swedish energy provider, has announced plans to begin work on a hybrid scheme in renewable energy at the Mynydd Lluest y Graig in Wales, ReNewsBiz informed.
Located in north Powys between two villages named Talerddig and Llanerfyl, Vattenfall at the site, plans to develop a variety of technologies, that include wind turbines, solar panels, and energy storage alternatives.
According to the corporation, original plans for this location were abandoned in 2013 due to changes in UK regulatory systems.
The teams will now take a fresh look at the site to determine how the latest technological advancements may be implemented, according to the statement of the company.
At the site, up to 14 turbines may provide enough electricity to power 77,500 Welsh homes for a year.
The plans will be up for consultation in the Fall.
Jonathan Hewett, the scheme’s project manager at Vattenfall said that they are looking forward to having conversations with the local community about the new renewables scheme and discovering the overall potential of this particular project.
Hewett mentioned that investment amount that was envisaged through the renewables scheme could be revolutionary and it will assist communities to reduce energy bills, make a long-term investment in the economy and create a tangible benefit of the project’s hosting.
He also said that currently, the plans are still in the early stages and that they will inform the residents that live nearby to encourage them to join these efforts and be part of comprehensive plans and project design.
