GE Renewable Energy, a wind turbine manufacturer, announced Wednesday that it has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Forestalia, a Spanish renewable energy sources developer, supporting a fresh 21-MW wind farm venture in a move to reduce the carbon emissions of its European operations, Renewables Now reported.
As part of its ambition to conduct carbon-neutral operations by 2030, GE will be able to source the equivalent of nearly 60% of its power usage across European sites thanks to the 12-year flat rate PPA. Forestalia will be able to build a wind farm in El Coto, in the province of Zaragoza, Spain.
The El Coto wind farm is expected to begin operations in June 2023, according to the Spanish contractor, who is also a GE Renewables client.
According to GE, this is the corporation’s sixth green PPA to get energy from newer renewable sources for its own activities.
