Colombian energy company Enel Colombia will invest about 757 million euros in renewable energy.
Enel Colombia announced that its renewables division Enel Green Power will receive most of the planned investment to reach 5 GW of installed capacity from non-traditional renewables.
The newly formed company, formed from the combined assets of four retail, power generation and distribution subsidiaries of Enel Americas SA, has power plants and renewable energy projects in Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.
With the new investment, Enel Colombia will bring nine wind and solar projects into operation between 2022 and 2024, according to CEO Lucio Rubio Diaz.
Of these, six projects are currently under development or are about to begin construction: one wind and three solar projects in Colombia and two in Panama.
